The
Canadian Forces Snowbirds are honoured to represent
the skill, professionalism and teamwork of Canada's
proud military. Performing before more than 125 million
spectators in their 38-year history, the Snowbirds
fly Canada's colours across North America. Flying
from coast to coast, the Snowbirds will visit Duluth,
MN, and will bring goodwill to the citizens of Northeastern
Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin.
The
Canadian Forces Snowbirds team has a history
a
tradition of excellence. With the dedication of 77
highly-motivated, enthusiastic and patriotic team
members, 431 (Air Demonstration) Squadron - the Snowbirds
- will participate in 65 air shows in 43 locations
from May until October during the 2008 season. Traveling
in 11 CT-114 Tutor jets and a mobile support vehicle,
the 24-member show team radiates a unique love of
aviation, military pride and national spirit.
With
extreme precision and grace, the Snowbirds will perform
their breath-taking formations and manoeuvres with
mere feet of separation over Lake Superior in Duluth
along the City's famed Lakewalk on Wednesday, May
14th. Requiring the highest degree of piloting skills
and maintenance expertise, the team flies their nine-plane
formations with distances as close as 4-feet of wing
overlap at speeds ranging from 100 to 320 knots during
their exciting show, which is comprised of more than
50 different manoeuvres.
Representing
the heroes of the Canadian Forces, the Snowbirds fly
in complete synchronization, demonstrating inspiring
teamwork. On the ground, Snowbird technicians exemplify
their motto Safe Jets for Aerobatic Excellence, taking
great pride in their impeccable maintenance record.
With
team members from the Army, Navy and Air Force, the
Snowbirds embody the Canadian Forces' spirit of interoperability
and pride in the profession of arms. Humbled by the
recognition as a national icon, the Snowbirds remain
focussed on preserving their tradition of excellence
and representing the best of the Canadian Forces and
Canada.
